Presented is a fine American coin silver tablespoon or serving spoon made by Samuel C. Brown of New York City. Brown was working as a silversmith from the 1820s to the 1850s. This spoon was definitely made in the 1820s. The spoon is done in a classic Fiddle pattern with a monogram of EWJS on the end of the handle.
The spoon is marked on the reverse with S. Brown for the maker. Tested and guaranteed to be at least 900 purity silver, coin silver.
The spoon is in great overall condition. There are two dents on the bowl as you can see pointed out in the last photo, but this is minor. There are no other dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The spoon is 9 3/4 inches long.
The weight is 52.3 grams or 1.8 ounces.
