Presented is an antique, American coin silver raised dish or compote made by Samuel Kirk early in his career. This piece was made in 1824. This was probably originally a large sugar bowl or waste bowl to a tea set.

The rim is beautifully decorated with flowers and scrolls. The sides of the bowl are designed with raised floral swags or festoons and flower medallions. There is a monogram on the piece of the dates and initials: 1910 MHCB HGB 1935; this monogram was added over 100 years after the actual production of the piece. This is a wonderful, early 19th century piece.

The base bears the Baltimore city assay mark and a date letter C for the year 1824. You can make out the letters RK for the end of Kirk. A little bit of the letter I is also visible.

This piece is in great overall condition for its age. There are some pinpoint dings in the bowl, as you can see in the third photograph below. There are no other damages and no repairs.

The dish measures 8 inches in diameter, is 5 3/8 inches tall and weighs 701 grams or 24.7 ounces.
