Antique 1810 English Eley Fearn Chawner Sterling Silver Fish Slice Knife
Regular price
$432.00
Presented is a classically designed, English sterling silver fish slice or server made by William Eley, William Fearn and William Chawner of London in 1810. This early 19th century piece is done in a traditional form. The base is pierced with a decorative, openwork pattern and the round-tip handle has a fantastic crest of a crowned lion.
The back of the handle is marked with the crowned leopard’s head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of King George III’s head, a date letter P for the year 1810 and a maker’s mark for William Eley, William Fearn and William Chawner.
This piece is in excellent overall condition for its age and the engraved crest is crisp. There is surface wear commensurate with age and use but there are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The server measures 11 7/8 inches long and weighs 140.3 grams or 4.9 ounces.
