Presented is a wonderful pair of English Georgian sterling silver sugar tongs or sugar nips. These tongs date to 1809 and were made by Peter & William Bateman. The tongs are beautifully hand engraved with bright cut designs. The endpiece of the tongs has a blank cartouche, never monogrammed.

This piece is hallmarked on the inner sides with the lion passant for sterling silver, the date letter O for 1809, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Peter & William Bateman.

This piece is in great condition. The details of the engraved designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The tongs are about 5 5/8 inches long.

The tongs weigh 29 grams.
