Presented is an ornate pair of English sterling silver serving spoons made by Joseph Hicks of Exeter in 1802. Each handle is hand engraved with bright-cut leaves below an un-engraved ribbon cartouche. Each bowl is ruffled or scalloped and has a deep gold wash. The bowls are hand chased with raised and highly detailed fruits and leaves.

The back of each spoon is marked with the town mark for Exeter, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark for King George III’s head, a date letter F for the year 1802 and a maker’s mark for Joseph Hicks.

This set is in incredible overall condition for its age. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.

Each spoon measures 8 3/4 inches long and the combined weight of the set is 107 grams or 3.8 ounces.
