Antique 1800s Tiffany Gorham Sterling Silver Medallion Pierced Berry Ladle

Regular price $396.00 $0.00 Unit price per
Presented is a fantastic Tiffany & Co sterling silver pierced ladle made by Gorham. This piece is done in the attractive Medallion pattern, which began production in 1864. As the name suggests, this pattern features a round medallion decoration on the handle, depicting a classical Greco-Roman helmeted warrior in profile. The bowl of the ladle has a scalloped edge and a rich gold wash. The bowl is pierced, so this piece can be used to serve berries or fruit in syrup, or whatever else you prefer. The back of the handle is monogrammed CAT in Gothic script.

This piece is in fabulous condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. The gold wash to the bowl is in great shape, with only the most minor of wear in a line across the back where the piece would have rested when sat down. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The ladle is stamped on the back with the mark for the retailer Tiffany & Co as well as sterling and a patent date for the pattern of 1864. Further down the stem is the Gorham mark, indicating that Gorham made the piece for Tiffany & Co.

The ladle is about 7 3/8 inches long.

This piece weighs 62.7 grams or 2.2 regular ounces.
