Presented is a fantastic Georgian English sterling silver fish slice. This piece dates to 1795. The blade has a beautiful pierced design and nice engraving of a spray of flowers and a crest of a wreath with a bird in the center. The back of the blade has an old marriage inscription of 'N B*W' above the date 1795.
This piece is in great condition. The handle is well and securely attached and has no splits and no chips. The fish slice has been reinforced with a circular patch of silver at the juncture to the handle, and this reinforcement was very professionally done and the piece is very strong and sturdy. The blade has no bends, no splits, and no monogram removals.
This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter U for 1795, the King George III head duty mark, and the maker's mark of 'AK' which we believe is for Abstainando King.
This piece is approximately 11 3/4 inches long.
This piece weighs 163 grams or 5.7 regular ounces.
