Antique 1795 English Georgian Sterling Silver Pierced Fish Slice/Server
Regular price
$612.00
Presented is a excellent Georgian English sterling silver fish slice or fish server from 1795. This server has a wide blade, pierced in a diamond or trellis pattern, and would be suitable for any general serving purpose. The handle is engraved with a crest of a portcullis. This is a fairly heavy piece, with a filled handle, and is very sturdy and well constructed.
This piece is hallmarked on the underside of the blade with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter U for 1795, the King George III head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Michael Plummer. The handle of the piece is also hallmarked with the date letter, the duty mark, and the lion passant.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. There is a slight amount of separation between the handle and the blade, however the blade is still very firmly attached. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is approximately 11 3/4 inches long.
This piece weighs 196.7 grams or 6.9 ounces. Please note, the handle of this piece is filled, so not all of this weight is silver.
