Antique 1793 English Sterling Silver Gravy/Sauce Ladle Horse Riding Spur Crest
Presented is an antique, English sterling silver gravy or sauce ladle made by George Smith III & William Fearn of London in 1793. This late 18th century piece is done in a classic form and the front of the handle has a finely engraved crest of a an armored arm holding up a horse riding or cowboy boot spur. This is an unusual, equestrian themed crest.
The back is marked with the crowned leopard's head for the city of London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of the king's head, a date letter S for the year 1793 and maker's mark for George Smith III & William Fearn.
This piece is in great overall condition, especially considering age. There is minor surface wear, but the designs are crisp and there are no damages or repairs.
