Presented is a fine English sterling silver fish slice or fish server. This piece dates to 1790 and was made by Michael Plummer. The blade of the server is beautifully pierced in a lattice design. The silver collar where the blade joins the handle is adorned with a fine, intricate design and texturing. The handle is carved from ox bone, with visible natural graining and crosshatching and a rich mellow patina.

This piece is in great overall condition. The handle or at least the silver collar joining it to the blade is a replacement. The handle has a vertical age line, but is tight to the blade and sturdy. The silver has no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

This piece is hallmarked on the underside of the blade with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter q for 1790, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Michael Plummer. The collar joining the blade to the handle is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the crown for the city of Sheffield, the date letter C for 1895, and the maker's mark for Harrison Brothers & Howson.

This piece is about 12 inches long.

This piece weighs 192 grams or 6.8 regular ounces.
