Presented is a wonderful Irish sterling silver serving or basting spoon. This piece dates to 1787 and was made by John Osborne. The spoon is done in a classic Threaded pattern, with a downward turn to the end of the handle. The handle has a nicely engraved crest of an armoured hand holding an arrow, inside an oval cartouche. Beneath this is an engraved floral design.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked on the stem with the Hibernia mark for sterling silver, the harp crowned for the city of Dublin, the date letter P for 1787, and the maker's mark for John Osborne
The spoon is about 12 inches long.
The spoon weighs 94.4 grams or 3.3 regular ounces.
