Presented is a lovely English Georgian sterling silver fish slice or fish server. This piece dates to 1783 and was likely made by James Sutton & James Bult. The blade of the server is beautifully decorated with pierced cut-out work and hand engraved designs. Above the pierced part of the blade is a cartouche surrounded by an engraved foliate design. The server has a beautifully turned wooden handle, in a rich dark colour.

The fish server is in good overall condition. There has been a monogram removed from the center of the cartouche, but the silver is still thick. There are no chips, no splits, and no repairs to the wooden handle. The silver has no splits, no dents, no monograms, and no solder repairs.

This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter h for 1783, and a maker's mark that is mostly rubbed but appears to be IS over IB, for James Sutton & James Bult.

The server is about 12 1/8 inches long.

The fish server weighs 130 grams or 4.6 regular ounces.
