Antique 1775 American Colonial Coin Silver Beaker Cup Wm Little
Regular price
$2,880.00
Presented is a very fine quality piece of 18th-century American silver. This cup is a minimum of 900 purity, which is coin silver standard.
This cup is in excellent condition. It bears the stamp WL near the top rim. Everything is clearly handmade. The weight is better-than-expected for a piece from this time period.
The interior of the cup has a gold wash which has some wear. There are three minor dents to the exterior one near the top rim, another near the base and a third small dot near the middle below the signature. All of these are quite minor and could easily be removed if so desired. I believe this piece should be left alone especially considering the rarity and age. The dents do not interfere with the overall aesthetic of the cup.
This form is difficult to find. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a superior quality 18th-century American silver beaker.
Please note: I believe this cup or beaker to be by William Little, although there were many American makers in the 18th-century with these initials. It is possible this cup could be by another maker, but it is definitely American.
There have been no alterations. This piece is completely original. Certainly no hallmarks have been removed.
This piece is not monogrammed and has no monogram removal. There is some even surface wear on the exterior. The base shows a good amount of wear, this is to be expected and in fact welcomed. You can see the original solder line on the exterior of the cup if you catch the light just right.
The height is 2 7/8 inches.
The diameter at the top is 3 1/8 inches.
The diameter at the base is 2 1/8 inches.
The weight is 147 grams or 4.7 troy ounces.
