Presented is a fabulous quality, English sterling silver salver or tray made by Robert Rew of London in 1773. This antique piece is in amazing condition for its age and the crest is still very crisp. The salver is raised on three classically formed feet. The ruffled rim of the piece has a wonderful gadrooned band of design. The center is skillfully engraved with a large shield and bird crest surrounded by swags of leaves. This piece is a good weight for its size.

The underside is marked with the crowned leopard’s head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter S for the year 1773 and a maker’s mark for Robert Rew.

This piece is in fabulous overall condition for its age. The engraving and the cast decorations are crisp. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.

The salver measures 12 3/4 inches in diameter, is 1 1/2 inches tall and weighs 976.2 grams or 34.4 ounces.
