Regular price
$306.00
Presented is an antique sterling silver salt or pepper shaker or caster, made in London in 1760. This mid 18th century Georgian piece is done in a classic form and is raised on a pedestal base. The pierced lid is decoratively engraved with latticework panels. The underside has an old, original monogram of the letter W over the letters T and M, which was an old marriage style monogram. The newly joined last name initial is engraved above the first name initials of the wedded couple.
The underside is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver purity, the crowned leopard's head for the city of London, a date letter E for the year 1760 and a maker's mark. The rim of the lid is also stamped with the lion passant, and part of the leopard's head crowned is still visible
The shaker is in great condition, particularly for its age. There are no monogram removals, no major damages and no repairs.
Height: 5 1/8 inches.
Weight: 75 grams.
