Regular price
$2,728.80
Presented is a mid 18th century French silver serving tray or platter. This piece was made in Paris by a member of the Maison Commune in 1743. The tray is done in the classical style of the times, with a threaded rim and undulating or ruffled edges. The back of the tray has an old inscription that reads: 2 m 3 on 0.
The underside of the platter is marked with a maker’s mark, a Paris 1738-44 charge mark and a crowned C hallmark, which is a mark of the Maison Commune of Paris used in 1743.
This piece is in fabulous condition for its age. This platter has been polished to a high finish at some time in the past 50 years or so. There are some pin-point dings and scratches to the surface but they are only noticeable when viewing the platter at a certain angle in the light. There are no other dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The tray measures 8 1/4 by 11 1/2 inches and weighs 512 grams or 18 ounces.
