The underside is marked with the crowned leopard's head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter a for the year 1736 and a maker's mark for Richard Gosling. The lid is also marked with the lion passant and maker's mark.

This piece is in excellent condition for its age. There is only minor surface wear and no damages. The pins on the handle appear to be replacements, but you can't tell unless you are closely inspecting the piece.

The pot measures 8 3/4 inches from handle to spout and is 9 1/4 inches tall.
