Antique 1734 English Sterling Silver Griffin Crest Double Marrow Scoop
Regular price
$496.80
Presented is a great old English sterling silver marrow scoop. It is done in classic form. There is a crest of a griffin engraved on the back of the scoop along with a three letter monogram just after the hallmarks.
The marrow scoop is hallmarked on the reverse with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head crowned for London, the date letter “T” for 1734, and a maker’s mark of WS probably for William Soame. Some of the hallmarks have wear, but they can be clearly identified.
The condition is excellent. The scoop has surface wear commensurate with age and light use, but this is minor. There are no dents, no dings, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The marrow scoop is 8 5/8 inches long.
The weight is 46.9 grams or 1.6 ounces.
