Antique 11 Mid 1800s Tiffany Young Ellis Sterling Silver Spoon Fork Flatware Set

Presented is a great set of 11 sterling silver Tiffany, Young & Ellis flatware pieces. These pieces date to around 1848-1853, a very narrow window of time before Tiffany, Young & Ellis became Tiffany & Co. The pieces are done in an elegant, classical pattern featuring scroll and reeded decorations, which we unfortunately do not know the name of.

The set consists of:

•     1 large serving spoon--8 3/4 inches long. Monogram of LB.
•     1 dinner fork--8 1/8 inches long. Monogram of LB.
•     7 teaspoons--5 3/4 inches long. Monogram of LB.
•     1 dessert/oval soup/place spoon--7 inches long. Monogram of LB on front, Y on back.
•     1 luncheon fork--7 inches long. Monogram of LB.

This set is in great overall condition. One of the teaspoons has some wear to the sides of the stem, above the bowl, which could easily be polished smooth. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

All of the pieces except the dinner fork are stamped Tiffany, Young & Ellis, a pseudo-mark of a man's profile, and sterling. The dinner fork is marked sterling and with the pseudo-hallmark of a man's profile. The dessert/oval soup/place spoon is only marked Tiffany, Young & Ellis. All of the pieces are guaranteed to be at least coin purity, and are very likely sterling as marked, but the sterling stamps may have been done later, as coin was more commonly used at this time period.

The total weight for the set is 459 grams or 16.2 regular ounces.
