Presented is a fabulous American Victorian hardstone cameo pendant on a 14K gold chain. The cameo is beautifully carved with a charming young woman in classical attire. The quality of the carving is exceptional. The cameo is mounted in 14K gold and strung on a thick heavy weight 14K gold chain. The chain fastens with a plunger clasp with flower and scroll decoration. The cameo was carved in Italy, and the chain was made in America. The cameo was carved in the 1850s to 1870s, and the chain was made in the earlier part of that same time period. Both pieces are exceptional quality. The woman's face on the cameo has the finest quality carving. The gold chain is incredibly detailed and completely handmade.
The chain and the gold mounting are not marked. We have tested them with nitric acid and guarantee them to be 14K gold. The condition is excellent. There are a couple of very minor chips to the very edge of the brown stone, but these are really insignificant and difficult to notice. There are no major chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The chain is 14 1/2 inches long.
