American Victorian 10k Gold Carnelian Pin Mid 1800s

Presented is a fine American Victorian 10K gold and carnelian pin. The pin is bezel set with a large piece of carnelian accented with scroll and leaf decoration above and below. The pin was probably made between 1840 and 1860.
The pin is not marked. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 10K gold.
The pin is in good overall condition. There are a few repairs on the back here and there, but this is not very noticeable. The carnelian is securely set. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The pin measures 7/8 inch by 1 3/8 inches.
The weight is 4.9 grams.
