Into the wind! Presented is a fabulous hand carved alabaster stone art work depicting a native American mother with her two children, wrapped within a large blanket, seeming to face into a cold wind, walking across prairie country. This is a poignant and beautiful modern piece, sculpted by Midwestern artist, Robert Garcia*. The carved and polished ivory-colored stone is marbled with taupe and gorgeous streaks of russet, particularly prominent on the back of the sculpture.

The piece is signed "R. Garcia" on the back at the bottom as it stands.

The condition of the carving is very good, with only what may be two short scratches on the front, over the mother's left arm, and two scuffs low on the front and barely visible, and on the back, a few scattered scuffs showing whiter than the original carving. Examine our well-focused photos and you will see this for yourself. The sculpture displays beautifully. There are no breaks or chips or other damages. The underside, where the stone rests on a table, once had some green felt glued to it, and just remnants remain. This, you may decide to clean off, cover, or leave as is, as it is not visible as the carving is displayed.

Dimensions: 9 3/4 inches tall by 7 inches broad and about 6 1/2 inches deep

Weight: 16 lbs 12 oz
