Regular price $4,800.00 $0.00 Unit price per

Presented is an elegant 81 piece sterling silver flatware set made by Wallace. The flatware set is done in the Grand Baroque pattern, which was first produced in 1941. The knives have sterling silver handles and stainless steel blades. All of the other pieces are solid sterling silver. The set has never been monogrammed or engraved. The set contains the pieces for a service for 12, with the exception of having only 9 butter knives.

The set includes:
  • 12 knives: 9 inches
  • 12 dinner forks: 7 1/2 inches
  • 12 pastry or dessert forks: 6 1/2 inches
  • 24 teaspoons: 6 1/8 inches
  • 12 soup spoons: 6 1/8 inches
  • 9 butter spreaders: 6 3/8 inches

On the Wallace website, the five piece setting that includes the knife, dinner fork, pastry fork, teaspoon, and soup spoon retails for $990 per setting. We are offering 12 five-piece settings with an extra 12 teaspoons and 9 butter spreaders. Of course, this can also be combined into 9 six-piece settings with 3 extra five-piece settings.

The butter spreaders, spoons, and forks are all marked on the underside with Wallace, the stag's head mark for Wallace & Sons, and Sterling for silver purity.  The knives are marked Wallace Stainless on the blades, and 10 of the knife handles are marked with the stag's head mark for Wallace & Sons and Sterling Handle for silver purity. The remaining two knives are marked on the handles with the stylized W for Wallace Silversmith and Ster. H. H. for sterling silver purity of the handle.

The condition is excellent. The set has some surface wear commensurate with age and very light use, but this is minor. The two knives marked with the stylized W on the handles have seen more wear than the other utensils.  There are no major dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.

The combined weight of the solid sterling silver pieces is 2957.4 grams or 104.32 ounces. This does not includes the weight of the sterling silver handles on the knives. If the 12 sterling handle pieces were included in the weight, then the silver weight would obviously be significantly more.

This set comes with a handsome box as seen in the photographs. The box is a felt lined box with cream linen accent. The box is in excellent condition, with only light surface wear to corners of the lid.
