6 Antique English Georgian Sterling Silver 1749 Classical Form Table Spoons
Regular price
$792.00
Presented is an 18th century set of 6 English sterling silver table or place spoons made by Robert Perth of London in 1749. The handles are done in a classical, curved forward form. Each spoon has an old, original monogram of the letters M and W on the back of its handle. The spoons are a good weight for their size and they are well made.
The back of each spoon is marked with the crowned leopard’s head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter o for the year 1749 and a maker’s mark for Robert Perth. The date letter is only really visible on one of the hallmarks, the top of the o is visible and it corresponds perfectly with the date that Robert Perth is noted as working in London: 1748-1754.
This set is in good overall condition for its age. Two of the bowls have a slight dent to the side. There is surface wear commensurate with age and use, including some rounding/wear to the tips of the bowls, some minor denting to the bowls, and wear to the design on the heel, all of which is fairly minor and as you'd expect for pieces of this age. We point out the most noticeable issues in the final photograph, to give an idea. There are no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.

Each spoon measures 7 5/8 inches long and the combined weight of the set is 305 grams or 10.7 ounces.
