6 Antique Art Nouveau Gorham Sterling Silver Versailles Luncheon Forks 6 3/4"
Regular price
$576.00
Presented is a great set of 6 Gorham sterling silver luncheon forks. These forks are made in the elegant Versailles pattern, which began production in 1888. This is a beautiful figural pattern, designed by French artist F. Antoine Heller, who designed similarly ornate figural patterns for Gorham like Fontainebleau and Mythologique. The pattern is said to be inspired by the statues and decorations in the Palace of Versailles. The handles feature a classical cherub and lyre, surrounded by intricate scrollwork decoration, all very detailed and quite crisp. The back of the handle has the name Taliaferro in elegant script. These are old production pieces, not from the re-release of the pattern in the early '90s; they have the old Gorham mark and copyright stamp, and all the detail and patina you'd expect. This is a very desirable and collectible pattern, and these pieces are particularly clean and crisp.
Please note, we have more items available for sale in this pattern, which you can view by searching "Versailles" in our store.
These forks are in great condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. The tines have only the most minor of wear, consistent with age and light use. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each fork is stamped with the Gorham maker's mark as well as sterling and copyrighted.
Each fork is about 6 3/4 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 313 grams or 11.0 regular ounces.
