Presented is a fine set of 5 English sterling silver dinner forks made in England during the first half of the 19th century. 4 of the forks were made by Richard Pearce in 1819 and 1 was made by James Beebe in 1840.  Even though 1 fork was made later, this is a complete, matching set. The back of each handle has a finely engraved crest of a dog in front of a burning bush or a field of high grass.

The back of each fork is marked with the leopard’s head for London and a lion passant for sterling silver. 4 forks are marked with a date letter d for the year 1819, a maker’s mark for Richard Pearce and a duty mark of the king’s head. The back of one fork is marked with a date letter E for the year 1840, a maker’s mark for James Beebe and a duty mark of the Queen’s head.

This set is in excellent overall condition for its age. There is minor wear commensurate with age and use but no damages and no repairs.

Length: 8 1/8 inches.

Weight: 358 grams.
