Presented is a fine quality set of 4 Irish sterling silver serving or large soup spoons.. The spoons have a very traditional Hanoverian design, complete with a pronounced ridge and upward turn at the end of the handle. The spoons are quite sturdy and well made, with a nice feeling of weight, made from thick heavy silver throughout and quite resistant to bending. Early Irish silver pieces of this size and quality are much scarcer than comparable English pieces, and we could easily have broken this lot up for sale individually, but keeping this set together represents a great opportunity for any avid silver collector.

This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the Hibernia mark for sterling silver, the harp crowned for the city of Dublin, the date letter P for 1735, and the maker's mark for Francis Williamson.

The spoons are in excellent overall condition, especially accounting for age. There is some surface wear throughout, but nothing excessive, and the spoons could easily be buffed to a high mirror finish. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

Each spoon is about 8 1/8 inches long.

The set of spoons weighs 292.0 grams or 10.2 regular ounces.
