Presented is an antique set of heavy, French silver plates or chargers made between 1798 and 1809. These plates are French 1st Standard silver, which is 950 and higher purity than sterling silver, which is 925. The plates have threaded rims and each one has an old, original engraved crest. The plates also have a modern monogram of the initials ML and the date of 1970.
Each plate bears the old French rooster mark for 950 purity silver that was only used between 1798 and 1809 as well as a maker's mark.
The plates are in good condition for their age. There is some minor wear and some small dings, but no major damages and no repairs.
Each plate measures 9 1/2 inches in diameter and about 1 inch high at the rim.
The combined weight of the set is 1,640 grams or 57.8 ounces.
