Presented is a nice set of 3 American coin silver tablespoons or serving spoons made by the highly regarded Ward & Bartholomew of Hartford, Connecticut. This firm was active from around 1804 to 1809. The spoons have a coffin end design with an H monogram on the end of the handles.
The spoons are marked on the reverse with W & B for the maker. Tested and guaranteed to be 900 purity silver.
The spoons are in great overall condition. The bowls of the spoons were undoubtedly a little bit longer than they currently are. There were probably rounded down by use over the many years. A silversmith has undoubtedly evened out the ends of the bowls and polished the bowls. They are slightly shorter than they original were, but this is minor. There is also some surface wear commensurate with age and light use. There are no dents, no splits, and no breaks.
The spoons are 8 3/4 inches long.
The weight is 196 grams or 6.7 ounces.
