Presented is an antique, mid 19th century pair of American coin silver salt cellars made for Ball, Tompkins & Black. of New York. This is a mid 1800s pair, most likely made around 1840. The cellars are done in a classic form, hand chased with design and each one is raised on 3 decorative feet. The inside of each bowl has an old, gold wash and the front of each cellar has a monogram of the initials PAP.
The underside of each is marked Ball, Tompkins & Black, NY and has an engraved monogram of the initials GJ. Both pieces are guaranteed to be at least 900 coin purity silver and may be as high as 950 purity silver.
This pair is in great overall condition, especially for its age.
Each one measures 3 inches diameter and is 1 5/8 inches tall.
Weight: 136 grams.
