Presented is a handsome, substantial and heavy pair of English sterling silver pots made by the highly regarded London silversmith, Lionel Alfred Crichton. The coffee pot and teapot, or perhaps a hot water pot, are both beautifully crafted in traditional lighthouse form with an elegant border of chased scrolls and flourishes on the lid and below the rim. The pots have nicely turned wooden handles and finials. Both pieces are faithful copies of pots that were originally made in the first half of the 1700s. Top quality work by one of the best makers in England. Both pieces are exceptionally well made and have good weight for their size. The pots have never been monogrammed or engraved.

Each piece is hallmarked below the rim with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head for London, the date letter ‘a’ for 1916, and a maker’s mark of LAC for Lionel Alfred Crichton. Both pieces are also hallmarked on the inside of the lid and even on the wingnut that holds the finial in place.

The condition is excellent. The handles are tight to the bodies. The pots are clean on the interior and ready to use. The pots have only the most minor of surface abrasions, much less than would be expected. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.

The coffee pot measures 8 1/2 inches wide from handle to spout and 10 3/4 inches tall.

The teapot measures 7 inches wide from handle to spout and 10 inches tall.

The weight of both pots is 1940.3 grams or 68 ounces.
