Presented is a decorative pair of Swedish silver raised and covered compotes or sauce tureens made in 1816. Each one is raised on 3 legs with a ball-foot base. The bodies have 3 lion face and ring accents. Each lid has a detailed squirrel finial. The finials and lion faces are separately cast and applied. This pair is finely constructed and completely hand hammered. Each lid has a notch to accommodate a ladle.
Each piece is marked with the Swedish 3 crown duty mark, a maker’s mark and K3 for the year 1816. This piece is guaranteed to be at least .830 purity silver.
This pair is in incredible condition for its age. There are no missing parts, no breaks and no repairs.
Each compote measures about 8 inches tall and the combined weight of the pair is 1,230 grams or 43.4 ounces.
