Regular price
$417.60
Presented is a fabulous pair of English Georgian sterling silver serving or table spoons. These spoons date to 1775 and 1777. The spoons have lovely classical engraving on the sides of the shaft. The handles have a distinctive downward turn at the end. The end of both handles has a wonderful crest of a stag beneath a banner that reads 'Free.'
The spoons are in great condition. There is only the most minor of surface wear, certainly not what would be expected from pieces of this age. There are no bends, no breaks, no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
One spoon is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter B for 1777, and the maker's mark of TN possibly for Thomas Northcote. The other spoon is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter U for 1775, and the maker's mark of WF possibly for William Fearn.
Each spoon is about 9 1/4 inches long.
This spoons weigh 159 grams or 5.6 regular ounces.
