Presented for sale is a great vintage pair, circa 1950s, of garnet and 14 K gold earrings or ear clips. These 14 kt gold ear clips are oval shaped and concave in design. Each ear clip features 7 round garnets set in a floral motif against a yellow gold, Florentine finish background. The garnets measure approximately 3 mm in size. The ear clips have screw backs with a decorative cap on the screw mechanism by which the earrings are fitted onto the earlobes. The ear clips are stamped 14 kt. We have acid tested the earrings and guarantee everthing to be 14kt gold.
The ear clips are in good condition. The garnets have good color and are well matched. The screw back mechanism is tight and secure and can be easily maneuvered to loosen or tighten the fit of these earrings to the earlobe. One garnet has a minor chip consistent with age and light use. Otherwise, there are no cracks, no dents, no repairs, and no problems of any kind.
The ear clips are 15/16 of an inch long and 3/4 of an inch wide. They weigh 8.6 grams.
