Presented is a fabulous English sterling silver serving tray. The tray dates to 1911 and was made by Martin, Hall & Co. The tray is done in a classical Georgian style, with a fancy shell and scroll edge. The tray stands on three detailed ball and claw form feet. We have not machine polished this tray, and the silver has a lovely mellow patina.
This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the crown for the city of Sheffield, the date letter t for 1911, and the maker's mark for Martin, Hall & Co (Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall) , as well as a number 5464P.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The tray measures about 13 inches in diameter and stands about 1 3/8 inches high at the edge.
This piece weighs 835 grams or 29.5 regular ounces. -jm
