Presented is an old silver and baleen sauce or small toddy ladle made during the 1740s-1800. The ladle has a classical, twisted baleen handle with an elegant arch at the end and a silver cap. The bowl is round with a flared lip. The silver parts are guaranteed to be at least .900 silver or coin purity silver. This was certainly made in England or the United States. Although some English examples were unmarked, this is quite unusual. The lack of any hallmarks indicates that this piece is likely American.

This ladle is in good overall condition for its age. There is a small hole to the baleen handle caused by parasite damage(probably about 200+ years old), as you can see in the last photo, but the handle is still structurally sound. There has been a small repaired dent in the bowl of the ladle, about half the size of my thumbnail or 1/2 an inch long and 1/4 inch wide. There are no other flaws, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.

The ladle measures about 14 3/4 inches long.

The ladle weighs 72.2 grams or 2.545 ounces.
