$417.60
Presented is a wonderful Dutch silver serving spoon, dated 1895. The terminal of the spoon has a large medallion design like a coin, with a crest in the center of a rampant lion holding a sword inside a shield shaped cartouche, supported by two crowned lions, all beneath a crown. The medallion is surrounded by ornate decoration in the form of a mermaid or siren with pheasants, flowers, cherubs, and scrolled vines. The handle of the spoon is done in an elegant twist form, with little bow shaped decorations at various points along its length. The bowl of the spoon has an engraved crest on the back with two lions holding swords in side a shield, above a monogram of GLD.
This piece is in great condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are no breaks, no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is stamped with the Dutch lion passant for a minimum silver purity of 833, the key-shaped export mark, the duty mark of Minerva's head, and a date letter of a Gothic L for 1895.
This piece is about 14 inches long.
This piece weighs 170 grams or 6.0 regular ounces.
