1892 Gorham Ladies Vanity Round Box Cut Glass Base w/ Sterling Silver Lid

Presented is a beautiful ladies vanity box with a cut glass base and sterling silver lid from Gorham. This piece displays great cut cross hash decorations along the glass and fancy flowers and scrolls hand chased throughout the lid. The sterling is gilded on the interior. The exterior band of sterling is monogrammed with four initials, likely TJCE in a flowing script. Under the hinge the box is marked sterling along with the maker's mark for Gorham and the date mark representing 1892. This piece is in great overall condition. The hing is smooth and the piece closes well. It appears that there was a missing glass piece that helped the box seal, however the sterling lid works well on its own. There are a few very minor chips in the glass, hardly worth mentioning. There are no cracks in the glass. The sterling has no breaks and no repairs.
