1886 Antique Russian 875 Silver Engraved Fork Sugar Tongs Serving Pieces

Presented is nice pair of old Russian silver pieces including a fork and a pair of sugar tongs. Both pieces are beautifully engraved. The tongs have a classic twist design on the lower half of the arms with floral engraving on the tips and the upper half of the arms. The tongs are monogrammed on the top part as shown in the photographs. The fork has a round cartouche on the front of the handle that has never been monogrammed or engraved. It is surrounded by engraved flowers and leaves. The tines and the handle are also engraved on the reverse with flowers and leaves.
The tongs are hallmarked on the inside of the handle with the 84 mark for Russian 875 purity silver, a city mark for Kostroma, and a maker’s mark. The fork is hallmarked on the reverse with the city mark for Moscow, 84 for 875 purity silver, an assay master’s mark, the date 1886, and a maker’s mark of BA, possibly for Vasily Agafonov.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The tongs are 4 7/8 inches long.
The fork is 6 3/8 inches long.
The combined weight is 51.3 grams or 1.8 ounces.
