Presented is a superb Victorian English sterling silver double handle bowl. This piece is dated 1880 and was made by Frederick Brasted. The bowl is made in a classical lobed form, with fluted swirls going into the center and hand chased with floral and foliate decoration around the sides. The handles are beautifully cast in the form of ornate C scrolls topped with a figurehead style bust of a woman. The bowl is very well made, and has a great feeling of weight and quality to it. This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter E for 1880, the duty stamp of Queen Victoria's head, and a maker's mark for Frederick Brasted. The porringer measures about 7 1/2 inches from handle to handle or about 4 1/4 inches in diameter at the rim, and stands about 2 1/2 inches tall. This piece weighs 172 grams or 6.1 regular ounces. -jm
