1879 Nice set 6 David Andersen Norwegian Silver Coffee Spoons w / Pastry Server
Presented is a fabulous set of 6 Norwegian silver coffee or dessert spoons, with a small pastry server. These pieces date to 1879 and were made by David Andersen. The spoons and server have an elegant twist form stem. The terminal of the handle features a design of crossed stalks of wheat, with a flower and what looks like a maple seed, all against a textured background. The server is beautifully hand engraved on its blade with an intricate design. The back of the handle is smooth, and could easily be monogrammed or presented.
This set is in great condition. The details of the pattern on the handle are quite crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Any black visible in the photos is only reflection.
The spoons are stamped on the back of the handle with the maker's mark for David Andersen, as well as the 13 1/4 lodig mark, for either 828 or 883 purity silver, depending on if the scale is out of 15 or out of 16. The server is stamped on the back above the blade with the maker's mark for David Andersen, as well as the date 1879 and the 13 1/4 lodig mark, for either 828 or 883 purity silver, depending on if the scale is out of 15 or out of 16.
Each of the spoons is about is about 5 9/16 inches long. The server is about 6 7/8 inches long.
