Presented is a fabulous set of 5 Norwegian silver luncheon forks. These forks date to 1879 and were made by David Andersen. The forks have an elegant twist form stem. The terminal of the handle features a design of crossed stalks of wheat, with a flower and what looks like a maple seed, all against a textured background. The back of the handle is smooth, and could easily be monogrammed or presented.

This set is in good overall condition. Two of the forks have old solder repairs to where the terminal of the handle joins the stem, as we point out in the photo. These repairs are not noticeable from the front, and are barely noticeable from the back. Other than those repairs, these two forks are in good shape, with no splits, no breaks, no monograms, and no monogram removals. The rest of the forks are in great condition, with no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.  The details of the pattern on the handle are quite crisp. Any black visible in the photos is only a reflection, not any corrosion or damage.

The forks are stamped on the back above the tines with the maker's mark for David Andersen, as well as the date 1879 and the 13 1/4 lodig mark, for either 828 or 883 purity silver, depending on if the scale is out of 15 or out of 16. Below that is the name of the city in which David Andersen worked, Christiania (Oslo, today).

Each fork is about 7 1/2 inches long.

The total weight for the set is about 206 grams or 7.3 regular ounces.
