Presented is a beautiful English sterling silver serving spoon from 1854. This piece displays an elegant fiddle shape with shells, acanthus leaves and a threaded edge. The spoon has a fine quality shell on the reverse at the juncture of the bowl.
The front has a crest of a eagle with wings expanded, looking back with an open beak. The reverse is marked with full English hallmarks: the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for London, the duty mark of Queen Victoria's head, and the date letter T representing 1854. There is also a maker's mark for H J Lias & Son.
The piece is in excellent overall condition. This spoon has a substantial weight and crisp decorations. There are no breaks and no repairs.
