Presented is an impressive and heavy American coin silver centerpiece bowl made by William Gale & Son of New York. The oval bowl is raised up on an ornate base wreathed with beautifully hand chased flowers and leaves and supported on four legs in the form of scrolls and flourishes. The bowl has two sturdy handles with fancy applied leaves where the handle meets the body. The rim has a handsome gadrooned border. The bowl has never been monogrammed or engraved.
The underside of the bowl is marked with a maker’s mark for William Gale & Son and the year mark for 1852.
The bowl has some small dents and dings here and there, but this is fairly minor. There are no major dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The bowl measures 8 1/4 inches by 13 1/4 inches. The height is 5 3/8 inches.
