Presented is a fine quality pair of Victorian English sterling silver serving or large soup spoons. The spoons have a very classical Fiddle pattern design, complete with a pronounced downward turn at the end of the handle. The spoons are quite sturdy and well made, with a nice feeling of weight, made from thick heavy silver throughout and quite resistant to bending. Both spoons have a monogram of 'JEH' in elegant script on the terminal of the handle.

Each piece is hallmarked on the handle with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter J for 1844, the Queen Victoria head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Charles Boyton.

The spoons are in excellent overall condition. There is some surface wear throughout, but nothing excessive, and the spoons could easily be buffed to a high mirror finish. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

Each spoon is about 8 7/8 inches long.

The pair of spoons weighs 152.1 grams or 5.3 regular ounces.
