1841 Fantastic 8pc Victorian English Sterling Silver MOP Dessert / Fruit Set
Regular price
$360.00
Presented is a fantastic Victorian English sterling silver and mother of pearl dessert or fruit set. This is an eight piece set, consisting of four forks and four knives. These pieces were made by Francis Higgins and date to 1841. The bodies of the forks and blades of the knives are sterling silver, while the handles are beautiful mother of pearl.
This set is in great overall condition. One of the forks has a minor separation, as you can see in the sixth photo, but this could easily be fixed. Otherwise, there are no splits, no chips, no cracks, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter F for 1841 Queen Victoria's duty mark, and the maker's mark for Francis Higgins.
Each knife is about 7 3/8 inches long. Each fork is about 5 7/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 262 grams. Due to the mother of pearl handles, not all of this weight is sterling silver.
