1831 Fine Pair English Georgian Sterling Silver Serving Platter Stuffing Spoons
Presented is a great pair of English Georgian sterling silver platter or stuffing spoons. These spoons were made by John, Henry & Charles Lias, and date to 1831. The spoons are done in a classical Fiddle form, with distinctive shoulders above the bowls. The spoons are sturdy and well made, with a nice feeling of weight in the hand. Each spoon is monogrammed WPQ in elegant script on the end of the handle.
Each spoon is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter q for 1831, King George IV's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for John, Henry & Charles Lias.
These spoons are in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each spoon is about 11 7/8 inches long.
The total weight for the pair is 269 grams or 9.5 regular ounces.
