Here we offer a lovely 14k gold and agate box with handle, probably Italian or Swiss in origin and made between 1800 and 1830. The stone is a lovely honey brown color. The lid, collar, finial and handle are all solid 14k gold. The collar has a Greek key border design.
This box is superb quality, very well made. The hinge operates smoothly and the lid opens well and closes firmly. There are a couple of minor scratches to the side of the handle.
The agate is in good condition overall, with only a couple extremely minor scratches to the lid. The body has a crack to the side that extends down but does not reach the base of the box, see photos. The agate is still strong and will hold together without a problem. Our photos make the crack much more visible than it is.
There are no hallmarks to this piece except for a touch mark to the top of the handle, which we cannot decipher. We have tested it and guarantee all the gold to be solid 14k gold.
