1829 English Georgian Sterling Silver Vinaigrette Box

Presented is a fine English Georgian sterling silver vinaigrette. The vinaigrette is engraved with an open cartouche on the lid surrounded with squiggles and dots. The underside of the box is engraved with flourishes and leaves. The interior of the box is covered with a nice gold wash and fitted with a hinged pierced liner decorated with swags and leaves.
The interior of the box is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the city of Birmingham, the date letter ‘F’ for 1829, the duty mark of King George III’s head, and a maker’s mark which appears to be IS for John Shaw.
The condition is excellent with only the tiniest of dents. There are no major dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.
The vinaigrette measures 7/8 inch by 1 1/4 inches by 3/8 inch.
The weight is 13.2 grams or 0.5 ounces.
