Presented is a great pair of English sterling silver sugar tongs from 1826. This piece displays a a fiddle shape and pointed tong ends. The back is monogrammed AEP in a flowing script.
The piece is marked with full English hallmarks: the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for London, the duty mark for King George IV, and the date letter L representing 1826. There is also a maker's mark, maybe for Jonathan Hayne.
The tongs are in great overall condition, especially considering age. There are only minor surface wear from normal use. There are no breaks, no splits, and no repairs.
